Description
The Indian clubs, coincidentally hailing from India are an old tool used not only for strength training but also coordination and mobility. The weight distribution of the club makes it relatively light to carry but provides a great workout when used appropriately. Did you know that the British used the clubs as a way to train their army as well as police? Or that the suffragettes used them in fights against the police and their batons? A valuable tool for conditioning of ancient wrestlers and late Victorian fighters. It was effective then, it should provide a considerable boost to your HEMA training, targeting most often weak links in modern physique of historical fencers – grip and forearm strength and endurance, wrist and shoulder mobility. The clubs are sold separately, however, we do advise to get 2 clubs which is also cheaper per club. 🙂
Characteristics
The clubs come in 3 sizes:
0.5 kg – 40 cm
1 kg – 49 cm
2 kg – 53 cm
Handmade
Since these clubs are handmade, the weight can vary between them for up to 15%. However, this is why we offer them at the price point you see. 🙂 We strongly recommend not starting with 2 kg if you don’t already know what you are doing with them. 2 kg is not newbie friendly and may cause injuries from improper form or use. We have collected some publicly available period books on club swinging that we offer for free to use here.
